  • Girls Division – Activities

YGW’s extracurricular programming extends the classroom chinuch and offers opportunities for students to forge friendships, cultivate leadership, and develop their creative talents. Many of these programs are led by students: Student Council builds school spirit through trips, yom tov mesibos, and an end-of-year Shabbaton; LIFT presidents develop programming that imbue our halls with simchas hamitzvah and kedushas hazman; and Chessed and Tzedakah committees work to raise awareness and commitment to tzorchei tzibur.

Elective classes meet twice a week and run on a trimester system so students can participate in different classes over the course of the year. During the fall and spring, we offer courses geared toward different student interests. The winter trimester focuses on performance arts, and our students work together to create an original musical performance.

The production elective is a wonderful opportunity for students in every grade to work together and create something larger than themselves. The lessons of unity, responsibility, sensitivity, and leadership are life lessons that remain with our students long after they graduate.

About

The Yeshiva of Greater Washington-Tiferes Gedaliah (YGW) is a community-based school on two campuses in Silver Spring, Maryland. We have separate Boys and Girls Middle and High School Programs; a Yeshivah Gedolah/College Program; a Kollel; and community-wide programming. YGW emphasizes the primacy of Torah while providing exceptional general studies instruction. Our students graduate with the passion, preparation, and priorities necessary for life, as well as a healthy sense of self and community.
